Custom Water Filtration Systems in Southwestern Pennsylvania
Cesare’s has been designing custom water filtration systems for three generations for homes and businesses throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Every system starts with professional water testing. We identify what is in your water, explain what the results mean, and recommend a solution built around your home, business, well, or municipal water supply.
Why Custom-Engineered Matters
A whole-house water filtration system treats water where it enters the building — before it reaches faucets, showers and appliances. Cesare’s designs each system around the property’s measured water chemistry, flow rate, water source and treatment goals.
A home with 8 ppm iron and 6.2 pH needs a completely different treatment approach than a home with 15 gpg hardness and chlorine. The treatment sequence matters. The media selection matters. The sizing matters. Get any of these wrong and your system underperforms from day one.
Real Southwestern PA Water. Measured Results.
Every Cesare’s system is verified with before-and-after testing — you see the numbers, not just clearer water. Real measured results from recent installs across Southwestern PA:
Your water gets the same treatment: tested first, engineered from the numbers, and re-tested after install to prove it worked.
Custom-Engineered for Your Water
We test your water on-site — hardness, iron, manganese, pH, TDS, chlorine, sulfur — then design a system using Custom-Designed media selected and staged specifically for your results. That’s the difference between a system that sort of works and one that delivers water better than bottled.
- Hardness (calcium/magnesium)
- Iron (dissolved + oxidized)
- Manganese
- pH level
- TDS (total dissolved solids)
- Chlorine
- Sulfur (as applicable)
Custom Water Filtration Starts With Testing
Water problems are not always easy to diagnose solely by sight, smell, or taste. Orange staining may point to iron. Black stains or deposits may point to manganese. White scale and soap scum are usually signs of hard water caused by calcium and magnesium.
Cesare’s does not guess. We test your water first, so your filtration system is designed for the actual issue.
Water Filtration Systems We Install
Treat every drop of water entering your home at every faucet, shower, and appliance. Custom-engineered from the ground up for your exact water chemistry.
Whole-House Water Treatment Systems
Treat every drop of water entering your home — at every faucet, shower, and appliance. Custom-engineered from the ground up for your exact water chemistry.
Multi-Stage Custom Filtration
Our flagship whole-house systems combine multiple treatment stages in the correct sequence — pH correction first when needed, then iron and contaminant removal, followed by softening, and finally polishing. Each component uses Custom-Designed media sized for your household flow rate and specific contaminant levels.
These systems handle the most complex water challenges in Southwestern Pennsylvania — wells with multiple contaminants, municipal water with hardness plus chlorine, and everything in between. Every tank, valve, and media bed is selected based on your test results.

Water Softeners
Hard water is caused by calcium and magnesium. A Cesare’s softener helps reduce scale buildup, soap scum, water spots, and the strain hard water can place on plumbing, fixtures, and appliances.
Softening is especially helpful for homes dealing with white scale, dry-feeling skin, stiff laundry, cloudy glassware, or reduced appliance performance.
Iron and Manganese Removal
Iron and manganese can cause staining, discoloration, and buildup throughout your home. Iron often creates orange, red, or brown stains. Manganese can create black stains or dark deposits on fixtures, laundry, toilets, and plumbing surfaces.
Cesare’s designs filtration systems that target iron and manganese at the source, based on your water test results.
Sulfur and H₂S Removal
A rotten egg smell is often caused by sulfur or hydrogen sulfide in the water. This odor can affect sinks, showers, laundry, and the overall comfort of your home.
Cesare’s can test your water and design a treatment system to help eliminate sulfur odor and improve your water experience.
pH Correction Systems
Acidic water can corrode plumbing, damage fixtures, and create blue-green staining. Cesare’s pH correction systems help neutralize acidic water and protect your home’s plumbing system.
UV Water Treatment
UV treatment can be recommended when water testing shows bacterial concerns. Cesare’s can determine if UV treatment is the right fit for your home, well, or business based on your water test results and overall system needs.
Cesare’s Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water Systems
Point-of-use purification for the water you drink and cook with — installed under the sink with a dedicated faucet. Available as a tankless High-Flow build or with instant hot water, finished with a pH-boost or mineral add-back stage to taste. The full lineup, specs and FAQs live on the dedicated page.
PFAS, Microplastics, and Long-Term Drinking Water Concerns
PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. These man-made chemicals are often called “forever chemicals” because they can persist in water and the environment for a very long time. Major PFAS compounds include PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, PFNA, PFBS, GenX, and a growing list of emerging fluorinated contaminants.
Microplastics are another growing concern for water quality. These tiny plastic particles can come from packaging, textiles, industrial sources, and plastics breaking down over time. PFAS and microplastics have been increasingly showing up in both municipal and private water supplies throughout Pennsylvania.
For drinking water specifically, an under-sink reverse osmosis system adds a final barrier right at the tap — testing tells us whether your home needs one.
At Cesare’s, every recommendation starts with professional water testing and chemistry analysis. Depending on your water, treatment may include Cesare’s RO, catalytic carbon, activated carbon, specialty filtration media, UV disinfection, or another custom-engineered method designed around your specific water supply.
Repair and Service for Water Treatment Systems
Cesare’s services and repairs existing water treatment equipment, even if another company installed it.
If your current system is not working properly, using too much salt, failing to remove staining, causing pressure issues, or no longer improving your water, our team can inspect it and recommend the next step.

Water Filtration System FAQs
Quick answers to the questions Southwestern PA homeowners ask before choosing a system.
What type of whole-house water filtration system do I need?
It depends on what is actually in your water — which is why Cesare’s never quotes from a package chart. A free in-home water test measures hardness, iron, manganese, pH, TDS, chlorine and sulfur at your tap, and the system is engineered from those numbers. Two houses on the same road can need completely different builds, and testing is the only honest way to know which one yours is.
What is the difference between a water filter and a water softener?
Filtration removes contaminants — iron, sulfur, chlorine, sediment, tastes and odors. A water softener does one job: it removes the dissolved hardness minerals that cause scale, spotting and soap problems. Many Southwestern PA homes need both, built as one treatment train. If hardness is your main issue, start with our dedicated water softener page.
Can one system remove iron, sulfur and hard water together?
Yes — that is exactly what custom engineering is for. The stages have to be sequenced correctly for the chemistry to work, which is where one-size-fits-all equipment falls short. Cesare’s designs multi-stage systems that treat iron, manganese, sulfur odor, hardness and pH in a single build, sized from your measured levels.
Does whole-house filtration work for both well and municipal water?
Yes, but the builds are different. Well water typically needs treatment for iron, manganese, sulfur, hardness or pH. Municipal water arrives disinfected, so treatment focuses on chlorine or chloramine taste and odor, scale, and drinking-water polishing. The free water test tells us which problems your supply actually has.
Does whole-house filtration remove PFAS?
Cesare’s builds treatment designed to reduce PFAS based on what testing shows, and for drinking water we often pair whole-house treatment with an under-sink reverse osmosis system as a final barrier at the tap. No honest company promises blanket removal without testing first — the water tells us what the system needs to do.
How do you determine which filtration system a home needs?
We test first. The free in-home water test measures your actual chemistry at the tap, we walk you through the results in plain language, and the system gets designed from those numbers — capacity, flow and treatment stages included. On complex wells a certified lab analysis settles the harder questions. Straightforward pricing comes after testing, before any work begins.
