Allegheny County
Water Filtration & Treatment
Custom-engineered systems built for your exact water chemistry. From Pittsburgh municipal to Mon Valley wells — serving 129 municipalities across Pennsylvania’s most populous county.
Water Challenges Across Allegheny County
From PWSA’s aging infrastructure to Mon Valley well water — we’ve engineered solutions for every situation.
Aging Municipal Infrastructure
Pittsburgh’s 100+ year old pipes cause discolored water, metallic taste, and sediment. PWSA still has lead service lines in older neighborhoods.
- Brown or yellow water
- Metallic taste
- White scale buildup
- Chlorine taste & odor
Well Water Problems
Mon Valley and South Hills wells contain iron, manganese, and hydrogen sulfide from the region’s coal mining geology.
- Rotten egg smell
- Orange staining
- Black specks
- Sediment after rain
Hard Water Throughout
PWSA water measures 120–180 ppm hardness. Well water often exceeds 300 ppm. Destroys appliances and leaves deposits everywhere.
- Scale on fixtures
- Dry skin & hair
- Spots on dishes
- Reduced appliance life
Chlorine & Disinfection
Municipal chlorination creates swimming pool taste and odor. Can irritate sensitive skin and damage rubber seals throughout your home.
- Chemical taste
- Dry irritated skin
- Faded laundry
- Rubber seal damage

Common Questions
Is Pittsburgh’s tap water safe to drink?
Pittsburgh water meets federal standards, but PWSA’s aging infrastructure includes lead service lines in older neighborhoods. Many residents add filtration for improved taste and peace of mind.
Why does my water smell like rotten eggs?
Hydrogen sulfide gas causes that sulfur smell — common in Allegheny County wells. Custom-Designed filtration media eliminates the odor completely.
What causes orange stains in my toilet?
Iron in your water. Common with private wells and older systems. A properly sized iron filtration system eliminates staining permanently.
How often should I test my well water?
Annual testing for bacteria, pH, hardness, iron, TDS, chlorine, and manganese minimum. Also test after flooding or changes in taste/odor.
Do I need a water softener?
Most Allegheny County water is hard. Signs: scale buildup, soap won’t lather, dry skin, water spots on dishes.
What’s the difference between PWSA and West View water?
PWSA serves Pittsburgh from the Allegheny River. West View serves northern suburbs from the Ohio River. Different sources require customized treatment approaches.
Can you remove chlorine from my whole house?
Yes. Whole-house carbon filtration removes chlorine at point of entry — eliminating taste, odor, and irritation from every tap.
Do you offer emergency repair service?
Yes — 24/7 emergency service throughout Allegheny County. Call 724-708-8816 for immediate assistance. We service all brands.
What warranty do you offer?
Up to 10-year warranty protection on custom-engineered systems (terms apply). Covers equipment defects with ongoing support.
How much does a whole-house system cost?
Costs vary by water chemistry and treatment needs. We provide detailed quotes after water testing — financing available.
