Why Custom-Engineered Matters
A home with 8 ppm iron and 6.2 pH needs a completely different treatment approach than a home with 15 gpg hardness and chlorine. The treatment sequence matters. The media selection matters. The sizing matters. Get any of these wrong and your system underperforms from day one.
We test your water on-site — hardness, iron, manganese, pH, TDS, chlorine, sulfur — then design a system using Custom-Designed media selected and staged specifically for your results. That’s the difference between a system that sort of works and one that delivers water better than bottled.
Whole-House Water Treatment Systems
Treat every drop of water entering your home — at every faucet, shower, and appliance. Custom-engineered from the ground up for your exact water chemistry.
Cesare’s multi-stage whole-house treatment system
Multi-Stage Custom Filtration
Our flagship whole-house systems combine multiple treatment stages in the correct sequence — pH correction first when needed, then iron and contaminant removal, followed by softening, and finally polishing. Each component uses Custom-Designed media sized for your household flow rate and specific contaminant levels.
These systems handle the most complex water challenges in Southwestern Pennsylvania — wells with multiple contaminants, municipal water with hardness plus chlorine, and everything in between. Every tank, valve, and media bed is selected based on your test results.

Systems for Every Water Problem
Each system category below addresses a specific water challenge. Most homes need a combination — that’s why we test first and design a complete solution.
Water Softeners
Hard water is the most common water complaint in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Calcium and magnesium deposits destroy water heaters, shorten appliance life, leave white scale on every fixture, and make soap and shampoo work harder. Our water softeners are sized to your exact hardness level and household flow demand — not a “one-size-fits-most” approach.
We also offer saltless conditioning for homes where sodium-based softening isn’t preferred or practical. Both options are Custom-Designed for your water chemistry and backed by up to 10-year warranties (terms apply).
Water Softener Systems →Iron & Manganese Removal
Orange-rust stains on sinks and toilets? Black specks in your water? That’s dissolved iron and manganese oxidizing on contact with air. Even 0.3 ppm of iron creates visible staining, and manganese as low as 0.05 ppm leaves dark streaks on everything it touches.
We test your exact iron, manganese, and pH levels because treatment approach changes based on concentration and water chemistry. Custom-Designed media in the correct oxidation and filtration sequence removes both contaminants before they reach a single fixture.
Iron & Manganese Removal →Sulfur & Hydrogen Sulfide Removal
That rotten egg smell means hydrogen sulfide gas dissolved in your well water. It’s one of the most complained-about water problems in Western Pennsylvania — and one of the most commonly mis-treated. What works at 1 ppm doesn’t work at 5 ppm, and the wrong approach just masks the problem temporarily.
We measure your exact hydrogen sulfide concentration and design treatment using the right method for your level. Paired with a digital backwash control valve that regenerates on your schedule for consistent, long-term performance.
Sulfur & H₂S Removal →pH Correction & Acid Neutralization
Acidic water (low pH) silently destroys your plumbing. It corrodes copper pipes — creating those blue-green stains on sinks and tubs — and damages every appliance connected to your water supply. Left untreated, it can cause pinhole leaks that lead to thousands in repair costs.
pH correction must come first in the treatment sequence. We install neutralizing systems that raise your water’s pH before it reaches softeners, filters, or any other downstream equipment — protecting both your plumbing and your treatment investment.
pH Correction →UV Disinfection
UV light helps inactivate microorganisms in well water — providing a chemical-free safeguard as the final disinfection stage in your treatment system. It’s installed after all other filtration to ensure the UV can work effectively on clean, clear water.
Staging matters: UV must come last in the treatment sequence, after sediment, iron, and turbidity have been removed. When properly staged and matched to your water, it provides ongoing protection every time you turn on the tap.
Well Water Treatment →Iron Bacteria & Chlorination Systems
Iron bacteria create a slimy, rust-colored buildup that clogs pipes, ruins fixtures, and fouls every water treatment component downstream. Standard iron filters can’t solve it — you need targeted chlorination first.
Cesare’s chlorination injection system — precision chemical feed for iron bacteria control
Why Iron Bacteria Require Chlorination
Iron bacteria are living organisms that feed on dissolved iron in well water, producing a slimy biofilm that coats pipes, tanks, and filter media. They’re the reason some homeowners see reddish-brown slime in toilet tanks, clogged aerators, and filters that fail prematurely — even after installing iron removal equipment.
Standard filtration alone won’t eliminate iron bacteria because the organisms regenerate faster than filters can remove them. Targeted chlorination — injecting a precise, controlled dose of chlorine upstream of your filtration system — destroys the bacteria and their biofilm before they reach your treatment equipment. The chlorine is then removed by downstream filtration so it never reaches your tap.

Product & System Questions
What’s included in a whole-house water treatment system?
Every system is custom-engineered based on your water chemistry. Typical configurations include pre-filtration, targeted contaminant removal (iron, sulfur, manganese, chlorine), water softening or conditioning, and final polishing. Well water systems may include UV disinfection as a final stage. The exact components and sequence depend entirely on your test results.
How is a custom-engineered system different from one at a big-box store?
Big-box systems are pre-packaged for “average” water and sell the same unit to every customer. We test your water first, then design a system with Custom-Designed media selected and staged for your specific contaminant levels. Treatment sequence, media type, tank sizing, and flow rates are all engineered for your home — not a generic assumption. That’s why our systems outperform generic units consistently.
What does the up to 10-year warranty cover?
Our warranty covers the engineered system design and media performance under documented baseline conditions. Well and spring water systems require water testing to establish baseline chemistry and qualify for warranty coverage. Complete warranty terms are provided at system design and installation.
Do you treat both municipal water and well water?
Yes. Municipal water typically needs chlorine reduction, hardness treatment, and taste improvement. Well water often requires iron, sulfur, and manganese removal plus softening and sometimes bacterial protection via UV. We design each system for your specific water source and test results.
Which reverse osmosis system is right for my home?
We offer multiple RO configurations: the Cesare’s 600 GPD + UV for homes wanting high-flow purification with disinfection, the Cesare’s pH+ 1600G for enhanced taste with pH balancing, and the Cesare’s Instant Hot system for purified drinking water plus instant hot water from one faucet. For commercial spaces, the Cesare’s Commercial Cooler provides hot and cold purified water without bottle deliveries. Learn more about our RO systems →
How much does a water treatment system cost?
Cost depends on your water challenges and system configuration. A home needing only softening and chlorine removal is a different investment than a well with iron, sulfur, and pH issues requiring multi-stage treatment. We provide clear pricing after your water analysis — no hidden fees or surprises. Financing and system leasing available (terms apply).
Do you offer financing or leasing options?
Yes. Financing and system leasing available (terms apply). Many homeowners find monthly payments are comparable to what they spend on bottled water or appliance repairs caused by untreated water. We walk you through all options during the consultation.
Can you repair or service equipment installed by another company?
Absolutely. We service and repair all brands of water treatment equipment — softeners, filters, UV systems, and more. If your current system isn’t performing, we’ll diagnose the problem and give you honest options. Repair & service details →
How long does installation take?
Most residential installations are completed in one day — typically a few hours for standard systems. Complex multi-stage well water systems may take longer. We schedule at your convenience and walk you through everything before we leave.
What is iron bacteria and how do you treat it?
Iron bacteria are living organisms that feed on dissolved iron in well water, producing a slimy, rust-colored biofilm that clogs pipes, fixtures, and filter media. Standard iron filters can’t eliminate them because the bacteria regenerate faster than filters can remove them. We treat iron bacteria with targeted chlorination — injecting a precise dose of chlorine upstream to destroy the bacteria and their biofilm, followed by downstream Custom-Designed filtration that removes the oxidized iron and residual chlorine before it reaches your tap.
